Part 1: The workshop begins day 1 on Sept. 23 with an intro to different types of clay and the fundamentals of hand-building. Ashley will provide guidance and inspiration as you design and build your own ceramic piece. You'll learn how to prepare the clay, understand its properties, and explore techniques such as pinching, coiling, and slab construction. Throughout the workshop, you'll receive personalized attention and instruction to help you refine your work and troubleshoot any challenges you may encounter.

Part 2: On day 2, Sept. 30 of this workshop, Marcy will provide guidance and inspiration as you paint your own ceramic piece. Discover your creative flow through an introduction to meditative drawing and painting techniques. Learn the basics of botanical drawing and painting while working with various mediums like ink, watercolor and glaze. You’ll learn the skills to apply glaze to your bud vase to give it that refined and creative look!

After 2-3 weeks of drying and firing time, you’ll be notified and your pieces will be ready to pick-up/ship!

This class covers two, 3 hour pottery sessions - all clay, glaze, paints, tools, materials and firings are included. We will also have some light sips and delish nibbles to enjoy together.

Your fired and finished pieces will be available for pickup 2-3 weeks later and you’ll be notified when everything is ready to pick-up/ship.

We have the pleasure of utilizing the beautifully, inspiring space of Marcy Ellis Studio in the West University neighborhood of Tucson, AZ. Address will be provided upon registration. This will be an indoor workshop, please dress comfortably.
