Through delicate lines of ink and watercolor,
Marcy Ellis draws inspiration from flora, the natural world, and the female form. Her work explores the connection of landscape, spirit and space and the transformative representation of fragile beauty within the female body. A surreal celebration of life.
A childhood split between rural agriculture and a suburban planned community set in the open desert, Marcy was immersed in the beauty and simplicity of nature at a young age. Through close observation and a determined spirit, Marcy taught herself how to draw flora, sitting in a wheel-barrow or inside the musky greenhouses on the plant nursery her parents owned and operated in their backyard.
Currently residing in the Sonoran Desert, Marcy illustrates and teaches art classes fulltime. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art and a Bachelors of Fine Art in Art Education from the University of Arizona. Her work has been published internationally and shown in galleries across the country.
